Request to Record Subordinates Competency - A summary of the activity
Through this activity, a supervisor can request for mapping competencies to his subordinates. This request will be later authorized or rejected by the authorizer. The status of authorization at any given time will be reflected in this activity
The supervisor can start by selecting the subordinate employee; the selection can be based on one or more search criteria. After he selects the subordinate, the system will show him the “Request to Record Subordinate’s Competency” page. This page defaults the existing qualification, department, job, position and assignment competencies of the subordinate employee, and allows the supervisor to map additional competencies to the subordinate. The procedure for mapping additional competencies is as follows:
4 Entering the code of the competency.
4 Specifying the minimum level desired of the competency
4 Specifying the possessed level of competency
Possessed Level: The possessed level is the level to which the employee is proficient in the competency. This reflects actual competency level of the employee, as per HR records. The possessed level can be rated as “0” by the supervisor if the subordinate does not possess any skills.
Minimum Desired Level: The minimum desired level(MDL) of a competency indicates the minimum extent to which the competency must be present in an employee. For example, if the MDL for the competency “Communication Skills” is 3 or 4, it indicates the minimum extent to which the competency must be present in the employee. In this example, the maximum value of the competency is set as 5, in the system parameters.
Competency Weightage: This refers to a number to indicate the importance of the competency, in comparison with all the other competencies listed for the subordinate. Note that the system allows you to nullify the weightage of an existing competency, by changing its weightage to zero.
Through this activity, you can also view the department competency mapping, job competencies, and position competency mapping. The competencies are mapped to the department, job, and position accordingly. Apart from this you can also view the assignment competency.
